I’m twenty-eight now… and I’ve had a few friends die. I’m not going to use a euphemism for death. To hell with that… they died… respect it, don’t deny it with an expression that dulls it. Some for unknown reasons… some for stupid things they’ve done… some for stupid things others have done… and some just get sick. It’s not fair that the ones that go first are the ones that have the best of hearts. It’s not fair that they are taken from us when they’ve given so much and we’ve not had a chance to even truly say thanks.

To me some of those deaths have not been in vain… they’ve helped me realize that life can be a lot shorter than we want. Don’t put things off until later… do them now. If you want to go to Europe for two months… don’t wait until work will let you… just do it. If you want to go surfing in the middle of the week when you should be working… do it… you never know if the surf will be worse on the weekend anyway. :)

Remember… the worst last words you could possible have are, “I wished I had…” Like the comercial says… just do it.

If I died today, I would definately have things that I wished I had done, but of all those things I will only truly reget one. Not keeping in contact with those that I care about is one of the worst habits that I’ve had since before high-school. I’ve been very bad about writing/calling friends that I knew well, or at the very least, well enough. I’ve lost contact with friends that I’ll never be able to find without the help of a private investigator — which would make me feel more like a stalker than a long lost friend. It’s something that I need to change now.

Beth, I’m glad your going to be with us for a bit longer. I wish you the best of health… and just want to say thanks for always being a good person… I’ve never met anybody that has ever had a bad thing to say about you. Our prayers are with you.

I’m still assembling my apartment… I’m in the process of getting some of my pictures printed, framed and hung on my walls — I’m tired of other people art on my walls. I’m also still cooking up a storm… Friday afternoons at the HB pier there is a small farmer’s market that I like going to. Fresh fruits and veggies are great, and there’s even a lady with fresh fish — stuff I would make sushi with.
Saturday Nadine had planned on getting a group of us together to head over to the monster-truck rally at the Anahiem stadium… so we all piled into her brother’s Saturn (four of us in the back seat), picked up two twelve packs of Pabst (what else do you drink at a white-trash event?), and headed over for an evening of fun. Too bad it was sold out. Like completely sold out. Couldn’t even get scalped tix. Ugh. Oh well… off to the bowling alley for a quicky tailgait party a looooong game of pool and two rounds of bowling — I kicked ass on the first round and got mine handed to me on the second. =D After that we hung out at a friends place until three in the morning.

After being dropped off at my car I drove home, packed my day-pack up… grabbed two hours of sleep and headed up to Adam’s place for a nice little hike through the hills above his house. It’s great to get out of the house once in a while… I’ve been working a little too much lately, and some physical activity did me good. After getting back, showering, cooking a great little dinner (fried egg sandwich with a side of strawberry slices sprinkled in sugar… mmmm… mmmm!), and cleaning my mess up, I headed out with a friend to see the new Underworld movie. It was alright… the first one was way better… as this one was just too predictable… and the acting left a little to be desired. Although it did have one of the most intense, but tasteful sex scenes I’ve seen in a long while. I’d give it a flat B.

Anyway… after doing this post I’m back to work… and boy do I have a lot of it to get done. Wonder if I’ll be able to read later, what I’m about to code after only getting a couple hours sleep!

Finally came across a limitation of my bloging software… I have no way of posting an entry that I only want logged-in subscribers to be able to read. It’s a huge oversight, in my eyes, by the developers… but then again you get what you paid for. So eventually… whenever I get time… which will probably be never… I’m going to code up a plugin to allow me to do just that. Should only take a week or two to figure it all out and execute the project… but the real decision is whether or not to share the damn thing… because then I would have to support it as well. I can live with minor annoyances in my code… but others won’t, and they will not let me get away with it either.

…self-doubt is for idiots.

Apparently this idiot wasn’t too far out in left field.

Now this is just plain cool. No key indicators telling you what key is what… and the damn things are weighted based on the strength of your fingers — one of the things that hold me back from typing 90+ anymore is that my middle and index finger move faster than my pinky finger! Since I type 7-days a week 8-12 hours a day, I’m so buying this!
