Mostly pilfered from my MySpace profile, until I have time for a proper write-up.

I’m a computer geek. Right now I’m taking a break from school while I work up enough money to go back full time without working. That is unless I make too much, then I’ll put it off for a while again so I can play starving student later. To make money for school, I’m writing database software for a local aircraft manufacturer — among other things.

I plan on eventually (at my current pace it will probably be twenty years from now) getting my Doctorate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. I’d like to work with robotics at the university research level, specializing in prosthetics. My only fear is that I’m a little to far behind to be on the cutting edge (all the really great discoveries may happen while I’m in school!)

Fun facts:
I was born 57 minutes before Christmas day in ‘77; I love to travel; I’ve been rock climbing since I was 17 but haven’t done it enough lately to consider myself anything but rusty; I’ve had my SCUBA license since I was 15; I’m into amateur astronomy and telescope building [including grinding my own mirrors]; My father and I went skydiving for his 61 birthday, and I’ve been jonesing to go back for more; When I was eighteen I took flying lessons, and made it through 20 of the required 40 hours of flight time to get my license; Last year I spent two months backpacking through Europe; Took three years of photography in high school, and consider myself ‘not bad’ even though I’ve photographed a friend’s wedding (and they still talk to me) and always get compliments on my travel pictures; My current job as a software developer came about because programming was a hobby for me to create my own personal applications; Bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler when I was 17, and still drive it today; I’m usually a nice, easy going kinda guy, but I have no problem being a complete ass-hole when provoked; Even though I was enlisted as an infantryman in the Army, I ended up as a tank driver at a training facility playing laser tag with other regiments; I hate running, but love swimming and bicycling until my heart feels like it’s going to pop out of my chest and slap me around for pushing it so hard; I’m double-jointed in my back; I don’t watch TV, unless I’m at a bar or a friend’s house because I don’t own one; I love to read, but never have the time to look at anything except stuff for work; I almost always have music playing while I work, sleep, drive, etc.; I typically do things alone because everybody I know will never commit the time or money to doing anything exciting; I refuse to sacrifice any of my time fighting with others, or putting up with their crap (life’s too short, it’s easier to walk away from stupidity and immaturity); I was the CEO of a corporation for several years before I realized that I’d rather be stress free than have money; While surfing I sliced my foot so badly on one of the skags that it took 5 stitches to close me back up; I suffer from dry eye syndrome which requires me to wear goggles to do anything that exposes me to wind
